Nikki Glaser is soft-launching some jokes ahead of her gig hosting the 2025 Golden Globes this weekend.
The 40-year-old comedian will take the stage on Sunday (January 5) to emcee the awards ceremony.
In an interview ahead of the gig, Nikki playfully roasted some of the movies that are up for awards. She also revealed how Taylor Swift is inspiring her as she crafts jokes about one specific film.

Speaking to Variety, Nikki said that she was looking forward to making jokes about Wicked and compared it to Taylor‘s awe-inspiring Eras Tour.
“It has that Eras Tour energy,” she said. “I want to respect the fandom and not trash it, because as a Swiftie, there is no joke you can make about Taylor Swift that is OK to me. I relate to people who love Wicked that much. But it’s so nice to have Wicked, because everyone’s seen it.”
Nikki added that she had already watched Conclave more than once, praising Ralph Fiennes for being “the greatest actor.”
“I fell asleep a lot during the first watch — it’s a dark, slow movie — but it’s one of my favorite movies of all time,” she said.
However, the comedian noted that people were extremely unfamiliar with some of the other nominated films.
“I saw Emilia Pérez — I don’t even know what I was watching. Then someone goes, it’s French. And I go, ‘Oh, OK. This reminds me of the Paris opening ceremony,’” she said. “That one’s fun because there’s a lot of fodder there. First of all, not many people have seen it. Then, because of the subject matter — there are certain things that culturally, we’ve all decided we don’t joke about. It’s sensitive. So that’s a difficult one to tackle, but not impossible: I welcome the challenge.”
What other movies are people unaware of?
“I’ve been talking about A Complete Unknown. People are like, ‘Huh?’ Or Nightbitch. People are like, ‘What’s that?’ It’s kind of shocking. The people at home don’t know these films, so I have to give the plot a little bit,” she said.
As a Swiftie, Nikki was asked if she’d make jokes about Taylor, replying, “Not unless it’s a very favorable way.”
