Hannah Berner isn’t starting 2025 off on a good note with Swifties. The former Summer House star turned comedian made a joke about Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, and fans of the “Lavender Haze” singer didn’t appreciate it.
“Luigi [Mangione] is so hot right now,” Hannah, 33, said during Netflix’s special Torching 2024: A Roast of the Year, which premiered on December 27, 2024. “Who knew, besides Travis Kelce, that you could become so popular with women by shooting loads into a billionaire?”
Luigi, 26, is accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, but has become a viral sensation with thousands of people thirsting over his good looks on social media. One person proclaimed the joke was “extremely sexist and degrading” to Taylor, 35, while another said that Hannah’s jab was “just disappointing and not funny at all.”
Others defended Hannah’s remarks.
“Degrading to Taylor? Not the guy that was murdered? First off it’s a comedian so grow up, but the fact that your concern is for a pop star’s ‘feels’ and not for the guy that was murdered is pretty bonkers,” one person wrote via X.
Another person chimed in and said, “That joke was degrading to the dead CEO. You don’t make fun of somebody’s death. Comparing it with Taylor Swift was just a sex joke, nothing crazy or disrespectful with that.”
The dig at the “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” artist wasn’t the only one that left a bad taste in several people’s mouths. Hannah also poked fun at Blake Lively during the roast.
“The word c–t was trending this year,” Hannah began. “I don’t think Blake Lively was that bad.”
The former Bravolebrity backtracked shortly after the Netflix special was released.
“My joke in the Netflix roast was filmed before news of the lawsuit,” Hannah wrote via Instagram Stories per Page Six. “To be 100 percent clear, I support Blake xoxo.”
Days earlier, Blake, 37, had sued her It Ends With Us costar Justin Baldoni and included several shocking allegations, including that Justin, 40, and his PR team had organized a smear campaign against her. (Justin has denied the accusations.) However, Hannah was seemingly referencing some interviews of the Gossip Girl alum that had resurfaced over the summer.
In one interaction, Blake and actress Parker Posey were promoting their film Cafe Society. Reporter Kjersti Flaa congratulated Blake on her “little” baby bump after she had recently confirmed she was pregnant with baby No. 2 with her husband, Ryan Reynolds.
“Congrats on your bump,” Blake shot back even though Kjersti, 51, was not pregnant at the time.
Later, Kjersti complimented the movie and described it as “visually amazing,” and she asked Blake if the cast enjoyed the fashion seen in the film.
“Everyone wants to talk about the clothes, but I wonder if they would ask the men about the clothes,” Blake snarked while only looking at Parker, 56.
Kjersti later shared the clip from the interview on her personal YouTube page and titled it, “The Blake Lively Interview That Made Me Want to Quit My Job.”
“Please do not believe the rumor that people are spreading saying that I was told not to bring up Blake’s pregnancy during this interview. That is NOT true. I was never told such a thing by anyone. That being said, I would love to get the source of this information so I can set the record straight,” Kjersti wrote in the description.
