This weekend had a very tight battle for first at the box office, as Mufasa bounced back after a very disappointing opening weekend to overtake Sonic 3 in the five day stretch from Christmas thorough today. Mufasa is set to take in $63.9 million over that period, while Sonic is right behind with $59.8 million in a couple hundred less theaters.
In more adult-oriented fare, Nosferatu brought in $40.1 million in the five days since Christmas, while A Complete Unknown brought in $23.2 over the same period. Both films will have their respective audiences mainly to themselves over the next few weeks, and will likely have good legs.
The Nicole Kidman-starring Babygirl debuted in eighth place with $7.2 million, while The Fire Inside made $4.33 million over the five day frame.
