The Ultimate Swiftie Award goes to…! Comedian Nikki Glaser traveled around the world to attend nearly two dozen Eras tour shows during Taylor Swift’s record-breaking tour, telling People it cost her “close to $100,000.”
“I want to be clear that we’re including travel expenses, hotels, and me also flying and putting up everyone that I would invite to go with me, plus tickets, plus merch,” Nikki, 40, told the outlet in an interview published on Thursday, December 19. She went on to say that it was “all well worth it,” and she “would’ve paid even more.”
According to Nikki, she was able to “justify that cost because I don’t have kids, and it’s something that I consciously decided not to do, and it was something that I struggled with.”
“It wasn’t the easiest decision. There was a part of me that was like, ‘I would like kids,’ but it just doesn’t fit in my life,” she added. “And so in order for me to make myself feel better about the decision, I did look up how much it cost to raise a kid. And so once I saw that number, I thought, ‘It’s no problem for me to spend this on Taylor Swift.’”
Taylor, 35, broke records with her 21-month tour that saw her travel to five continents performing a setlist of 44 songs from her 11 “eras.” According to the New York Times, Taylor’s Eras tour sold $2,077,618,725 in tickets, which was “double the gross ticket sales of any other concert tour in history.”
“It’s nice to see the total that she made,” Nikki told People. “I love that it was down to the dollar, and I could see my own money in that number and be like, ‘Yeah, there it is.’”
Many Swifties around the world found the fact that some fans and friends of the singer were able to attend multiple shows while others were forced to watch grainy live streams because of exorbitant resale prices. The 2025 Golden Globes’ host has been hit with another form of backlash, however.
“People who give you crap about it, they are just jealous. And I understand, I get jealous of people all the time. But it’s like… No one ever shames anyone for having kids and says, ‘Oh, what a waste of money. Oh, you’re flaunting your wealth,’” she continued. “But for some reason, when I go to 22 Taylor Swift shows, it’s like, ‘You’re so privileged. How dare you spend that money.’”
“It’s very confusing to me,” Nikki confessed. “If I didn’t buy the $6,000 ticket, some other trust fund guy or some kind of hedge fund manager would’ve bought it for his niece. I wish the world were more fair. I wish it was a lottery. I really do”
The Someday You’ll Die star previously opened up about her Eras tour spending during an October 2023 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show. At the time, Nikki had attended nine shows during Taylor’s first U.S. leg, admitting that her total spent was $25,000.
“It just fills my life up with so much joy,” she said. “I’m in my late 30s. I just feel like, I don’t have kids, and I did the math and if I had kids, I’d be paying for dance camp and swim lessons.”
In addition to the 22 shows she attended, Nikki was also scheduled to attend one of Taylor’s shows in Vienna, Austria, with her sister Lauren Glaser in August. The shows were canceled due to a “planned terrorist attack.”
The pair learned of the cancelation before boarding their flight to the European city and went viral for their parody of “Cruel Summer” switching the iconic lines to “On our way to Vienna on a flight that was late/ Oh, planning outfits and singing songs/ We had no idea how things could go wrong.”
