Justin Bieber included a song in the background of his latest Instagram post with wife Hailey Bieber (née Baldwin) – and fans think it’s his reaction to Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco’s engagement!
The “Baby” singer, 30, posted two Instagram updates on Monday, December 16, and both featured songs reminiscing about an ex. In the first post, Justin shared a series of photos and videos from a recent trip he and Hailey, 28, took for a friend’s wedding. It included shots of them together, as well as solo images and pics of the scenery.
In the background, the song “The Dress” by Dijon was playing. The song includes nostalgic lyrics like, “We should go out and dance like we used to dance, we should go out and hold hands like lovers hold hands, and I can’t tell you who’s gonna last, well, maybe that’s a question and answer I don’t have.”
The second post was a single photo of Hailey kissing Justin on the cheek with “All My Ghosts” by Lizzy McAlpine as the song choice. This was the one that really had fans in a spiral, as the track features specific lyrics about an ex’s wedding: “I can see it now, the wedding of the year. I can see it now, he stands up there and wipes his tears. I can see it now, when all my ghosts disappear, I can see it crystal clear.”
“But why that song,” one fan wrote in the comments section. Another said, “Was waiting for a post like this. You’re so predictable,” and someone else jumped in to add, “He’s like dam I got married had a kid but her engagement hurt like a stab in the heart. That’s crazy it’s all in his eyes.”
Aside from the song choice, the timing of Justin’s post was also questionable to fans, as it came just days after Selena, 32, announced her engagement. Prior to these two PDA-filled posts, Justin had not been sharing many personal photos on his Instagram account in recent months (he and Hailey welcomed their son, Jack, in August).
“Of course he was gonna post something now,” one commenter wrote, along with a skull emoji. Someone else said, “We know why you posted this,” and another person added, “Jokes aside not being a Jelena fan … why post these songs ? He could have avoid posting anything but he posted these two songs about ex’s [sic].”
Selena and Justin dated on and off from 2011 until 2018. He connected with Hailey during one of their breakups and reconciled with the model shortly after he and Selena broke up for good. They got engaged in July 2018 and secretly tied the knot that September, then held a bigger wedding for family and friends one year later.
Meanwhile, Selena and Benny, 36, confirmed their relationship in December 2023. At the time, she revealed that they had already been together for six months. The “Bad Liar” singer announced that Benny had proposed on December 11, and Hailey was one of the 22 million people who “liked” the post.
