Sydney Sweeney had the best clap back to haters who have been making negative comments about her body online. After photos of the actress wearing a bikini went viral on December 13, she responded to the critics with an Instagram post one day later.
The Anyone But You star, 27, posted a video that included a compilation of screenshots of hateful comments about her looks. “Kinda dumpy,” one of the comments said, while another hater wrote, “Nothing stunning at all, outdated and not looking lean,” and someone else added, “Without artifice (makeup, filter and photoshop) she is really ugly!” These were just a few of the hundreds of messages shared online about Sydney in the comments section of a news article that featured the photos, which were taken as she sunbathed at a mansion in Florida.
Rather than post a long response, Sydney concluded the video with footage of her training for her role as professional boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming movie. She included photos and videos of her intense gym sessions and other workouts that she’d been doing to bulk up with muscle for the film. Several of the pictures showed Sydney flexing her muscles to proudly show off the results of her hard work.
The comments section was filled with supportive messages from famous friends, including former costar Glen Powell, who wrote, “You’re such a badass. This movie is gonna be [fire emoji].” Rachel Brosnahan and Quinta Brunson also commented with “fire” emojis, while Kesha added, “Strong baddie.”
Lili Reinhart said, ‘It’s always wild to see people publicly out-themselves as a piece of s–t with comments like that. You look incredible and your dedication to your project is very inspiring.”
Sydney will play Christy in an upcoming biopic and has spent months training for the role. “Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film im working on right now,” she wrote on Instagram in October. “Over the past few months, i’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. more to come soon.”
The Euphoria star was also recently announced as the lead in the upcoming movie adaptation of Frieda McFadden’s book The Housemaid. In October, she shared a video of herself holding up the book and slowly moving it away to reveal her face, which broke out into an excited grin. “Tell me about yourself, Millie #TheHousemaidMovie – coming soon!!” she captioned the post.
While a release date for the movie has not been announced yet, it was also confirmed that Amanda Seyfried will be costarring in the film alongside Sydney. Brandon Sklenar was later announced as the male lead in the movie after previously starring alongside Blake Lively in It Ends With Us.
