Getting real. Dancing With the Stars performer Stephani Sosa opened up about her decision to get liposuction, saying she “needed” the fat removal procedure.
The So You Think You Can Dance alum, 25, confessed in a Sunday, December 8, TikTok video that she underwent Lipo 360 surgery and said she “was able to fully transform my body into what I have now.”
Stephani shared a “before” photo in her underwear, along with another snapshot of what she currently looks like, wearing a black bra top and leggings while flaunting her ripped abs. She revealed she decided to undergo the surgery “about a year and a half ago” in order to “invest in myself and my career.”
“I just wanted to shape my body, and I had a really hard time my whole life trying to get the body that I’ve always wanted. I wanted to do it for me and my career. I was so fed up with the industry telling me how my body should look … I was just so over it and I needed to do it for me. So I did,” the two-time national Latin ballroom champ explained.
Stephani said her recovery took “about six to eight weeks” and that she got a “very very painful” fat transfusion on top of it. She explained that doctors took out fat cells from “unwanted areas” and “put it in the places where you want the fat. So, if I was to gain weight again, it would go in those specific areas.”
Nowadays, Stephani says she works out with a personal trainer and eats “relatively clean now, just to maintain my body.” She called getting liposuction “the best decision I ever made, I feel like my life changed,” adding that it boosted her “confidence” and “happiness.”
The Orem, Utah, native joined DWTS in September as a troupe member for season 33. She shared the thrilling news in a September 13 Instagram post in front of the show’s logo, writing, “Baby chica is screaming! Thank you to everyone who has supported me along this journey!!” Her brother, Ezra Sosa, competed as a pro alongside fake heiress Anna Delvey during the same season, although they were eliminated during the second episode.
In addition to DWTS, Stephani showcased her dancing skills in 17 episodes of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series as a dancer and chorus performer between 2019 and 2021. She also appeared as a showgirl in Apple TV+’s series Palm Royale.
Both Stephani and Ezra, 24, competed on season 16 of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. She made it to the top 10, while her brother landed in the top 6 before getting eliminated.
The longtime hoofer shared how Disney week on DWTS was the most meaningful for her in an October 24 Instagram post.
“For those of you that didn’t know I’ve been a Disney girl pretty much my whole professional dance career, from working almost everything and anything Disney related, so this week was EXTRA SPECIAL FOR ME,” she gushed, next to a series of photos and videos from her routines that week.
