Jarrett “JT” Thomas joined the cast of Southern Charm in season 9, but he quickly butted heads (literally) with longtime cast member Austen Kroll. Now, fans are curious if they’ll see more of JT past season 10.
Did JT Quit ‘Southern Charm?’
On November 8, 2024, JT announced that he would not be completing season 10 of Southern Charm despite already filming several episodes.
“It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm,” JT wrote via Instagram. “Yesterday I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews before [the] season airs on [December 5, 2024] (I’ve done about ~ 9 thus far leading up to today) and that I not longer wish to participate in any ways moving forward with the TV show.”
He continued, “I will leave it at that for now while I work on next steps to recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging and exhausting year.”
Former ‘Southern Charm’ Cast Members Supported JT’s Decision
While JT might not have bonded with many people in the current cast, a few familiar Southern Charm faces supported his decision in the comments.
“Nothing is more valuable than your peace,” Cameron Wimberly, who starred in the Bravo series from seasons 1 through 6, wrote.
Chleb Ravenell, who dated former Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis and appeared during season 7, also offered up his well wishes and added, “Amen” followed by the raising hands emoji.
Why Do ‘Southern Charm’ Season 10 Stars Think JT Quit?
JT has yet to specify the specific reason he cut his time on Southern Charm short, but some of his costars speculated about why he left.
“He realized really quick that wasn’t going to last,” Madison LeCroy told Us Weekly in an interview published on December 7, 2024. “I think it became more of this, like, he caught the house on fire and then stepped away when everyone had a reaction — and not a good one. He was no longer wanted in the group.”
Austen and JT got into a physical altercation in the season 9 finale after JT accused Austen of “f–king” Shep Rose’s “girlfriend,” Taylor Armstrong. (Taylor and Shep had already split at the time.) Needless to say, Austin wasn’t sad to hear about JT leaving the show.
“The announcement was a bit grandiose. My take is that — I mean the hypocrisy of it all is crazy,” Austen told the outlet. “The second that a mirror gets held in his face, rather than own it and take accountability he just [splits].”
Leva Bonaparte said that while she thinks JT is a “good guy,” he came into season 10 and “faced a lot of accusations.”
“JT is so chaotic, which I think makes for great TV but it’s not a show. He’s a chaotic person and he kind of has no chill,” Leva explained. “It’s like if you say something to JT, I’m like, ‘Can you process it?’ … But he’s so reactive.”
Taylor admitted that JT’s departure was “frustrating” and said that even though they “all had a hard season,” the other stars still “showed up.”
