Hey ONTD! I just got my Spotify Wrapped, and I noticed that my top 5 artists were all female pop singers (and one Broadway singer). This gave me a fun idea for a game we could play to discover new female artists and appreciate the ones we already love.
Here’s how it works:
-Look up your Spotify Wrapped (or think about your most-listened-to female artists if you don’t have Wrapped or it doesn’t contain 5 female artists).
-List your top 5 female artists in the comments and your favorite songs by them.
-Imagine them as a girl band and share your thoughts on what kind of music they’d make, their group dynamic, and any other fun details you can come up with!
I’ll start with my own top 5, who hilariously all seem to be around the same height:
1. Madison Beer
I swear, this girl can do no wrong—every single song she’s ever made is pure gold. I first stumbled across her thanks to some random ONTD post, and I’ve been a stan ever since. She doesn’t have one bad song and even her features are fantastic. She’s criminally underrated if you ask me, but at least she’s finally getting her flowers with that Grammy nod for “Make You Mine.” Fingers crossed she wins!
2. Sabrina Carpenter
I’ve been obsessed with her new album lately, but this song has been on heavy rotation for ages—even before I knew who she was. I love how cheeky her lyrics are and her whole aesthetic.
3. Dove Cameron
I’m obsessed with how dark and moody her songs are. Alchemical: Volume 1 was straight-up perfection, not a single skip on that album! Now, I’m over here patiently waiting for Volume 2, but girlie is too busy dating Damiano David and traveling to drop it (but honestly, who could blame her?). Also, if they ever do a duet on some broody, atmospheric track, just know I’d spontaneously combust on the spot.
4. Olivia Rodrigo
This song is an absolute masterpiece. It’s my most played track of the year. The lyrics match the movie perfectly, and it’s just so hauntingly beautiful. Olivia really outdid herself with this one.
5. Rachel Zegler
Her voice is pure magic. I loved everything about her in this movie, from the acting to the singing, but especially this song…It’s so beautiful and heartbreaking. This and “Nothing You Can Take from Me” have been on repeat since the day the movie dropped. She needs to release an album.
So those are my top 5 Spotify artists. I could totally see them as a girl group. They could have these upbeat bops that make you wanna dance, but also these hauntingly beautiful ballads that give you chills. I also think they would get along well, and Olivia and Sabrina would get over their feud for the good of the group :D.
Ugh, I can’t even imagine the vocal harmonies…I would die if they all sang together. It would be iconic.
