Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel, the original Glinda and Elphaba from Broadway’s Wicked, joined Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, who play these roles in the movie version, at the Los Angeles premiere on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024.
The stars gathered for photos at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion alongside other cast members, including Jeff Goldblum, Marissa Bode, Jonathan Bailey, Michelle Yeoh, Ethan Slater, and Bronwyn James.
Interestingly, Jon M. Chu, the movie’s director, couldn’t make it. He stayed with his wife as they prepare to welcome their fifth baby together.
As expected, Erivo, 37, and Grande, 31, stole the show with their eye-catching outfits. Like their previous Wicked red carpet appearances, their looks gave nods to their characters, Elphaba and Glinda.
Grande, styled by Mimi Cuttrell, wore a custom Thom Browne creation – a pink-and-white gingham dress with a strapless ball gown shape, matched with a bolero jacket and gloves. She completed the look with sparkly silver shoes and her hair in a classic updo with a bow.
Erivo made heads turn in a custom green vinyl dress by Louis Vuitton, topped with a dramatic fringed silk stole. Jason Bolden styled her, adding stunning Roberto Coin jewelry. The standout piece? An 18K white gold diamond and emerald collar necklace from the brand’s Haute Couture Collection, worth a jaw-dropping $750,000.
