As of today, UK police are aware of at least 100 violent racist and Islamophobic riots planned by supporters of the far-right movement

This has led to attacks on mosques, hotels housing migrants, setting fire to libraries and attacks on anyone in the vicinity who is profiled by rioters as Muslim and/or a POC, particularly anyone Asian, brown or black

While the UK media are taking their sweet, sweet time in deciding whether or not violence against unarmed innocent people is a bad thing, a lot of UK citizens and campaigners are defending their communities themselves

Stand Up To Racism UK is a charity that campaigns to reduce the lurch to the far-right, and they launched their unity statement today

Their counter-protests are to be launched this Saturday in every city

Some notable names that have added their names to the statement [OP note: the full list is pitifully small but I’m hoping it’s just because this was launched quickly and not many people know about the movement yet. The pushback has been slow]:

    Kate Nash
    Paloma Faith
    Shirley Manson
    Bimini Bon Boulash
    Divina De Campo
    Billy Bragg
    Self Esteem (Rebecca Lucy Taylor)
Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham; Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging)
    Roots Manuva
    Maverick Sabre
    Zarah Sultana MP
    Diane Abbott MP
    Jeremy Corbyn MP
