Welcome back to ONTD, the site that nobody uses, but somehow, everybody stalks. Here is your box office post for the week of 7/19-7/21
- Glen Powell's Twisters twisted up a storm with 80$m OW. The Era of the Capybara is here.
- Despicable Me 4 – $23.8m
- Inside Out 2 – $12.7m – I think that's slightly more than last week, and it soon overtaking Barbie to be the 14th highest grossing movie of all time
- Longlegs – 11.7m$
- A Quiet Place Day 1 in probably its last week of being in the top 5 with 6.1m$
ICYMI:
- San Diego Comic Con starts this week! There is no upcoming news about a Paramount panel, but there is a Transformers One panel. So where's Sonic 3?
- For the second time this year, an employee on a Sony production admits the MCU movies are made by committe. This time, it was the director of "Morbius". The first was (clearly) Dakota Johnson with "Madame Web".
- IFC will release Memoirs of a Snail stateside this award season.
Next week is Didi, The Fabulous Four, and something called Deadpool and Wolverine. Not familiar with that last one /s It may even open to an over 200$m OW!
You know, since people watch our community, no reason at all A24 can't pay us residuals for promoting The Green Knight as hard as we did almost, oh, 3 years ago.
