Drake shared on Tuesday night (Jul. 16, 2024) that his Canadian estate had been inundated after days of heavy rainfall in the Toronto area.

“This better be Espresso Martini,” he wrote on a video posted to his Instagram story. The footage showed viewers through what seems to be a walk-in wardrobe and dressing/makeup space with several inches of murky water covering the floor.

Environment Canada stated that about 3.3 inches of rain fell in a matter of hours in downtown Toronto, as reported by the CBC. The downpour flooded streets and homes, causing power outages for many.

Drake’s Toronto residence was previously showcased in an April 2020 Architectural Digest article, which described the property as 50,000 square feet. Drake refers to the estate as The Embassy, AD noted, and its style as “overwhelming high luxury.”

“Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel,” Drake told the outlet. “It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.”

The Embassy was created by Canadian architectural and interior designer Ferris Rafauli, who told AD that the building is “a proper 19th-century limestone mansion.”

“But the exterior profiles are more minimal and the lines are a bit cleaner,” Rafauli said, calling the interior rooms “modern Art Deco.”

The opulent home was also featured in the rapper’s pandemic-era music video, “Tootsie Slide,” which he filmed inside the mansion and around the estate grounds.
