The Transparency in Charges for Key Events Ticketing (TICKET) Act was introduced in June 2023. The bill was unanimously approved by the House of Representatives’ Energy and Commerce Committee in December 2023. Today the United States House of Representatives passed the bill with a 338-24 vote. If it is approved by the Senate, President Biden will sign this bill into law. What does this mean for concert goers?

    The TICKET Act will:

    • require ticket sellers to show simple all-in pricing (including all required fees) in any advertisement, marketing, or promotional materials
    • ban speculative ticketing (meaning the seller does not have actual possession of the ticket)
    • ban deceptive websites and website marketing
    • provide full refunds for any canceled event
    • offer comparable replacement tickets for any postponed event with buyers’ approval
    • require the FTC to issue a report on the BOTS Act Enforcement (which was passed in 2016)

In other words, no more ads saying “tickets start at $100” only to find that a single ticket actually costs $175 after multiple fees.
