Ahoy ONTD, didn’t see you there.
Who would have thought that Joe Keery (Steve Harrington) from the hit television show Stranger Things would also have a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024.
Keery and his band DJO have a hit on their hands with “End of Beginning.”
Written and co-produced by Keery and released in 2022, the song found success on none other than TikTok, of course.
The song has no official video.
It’s currently no. 3 on Spotify’s Top 50 Global Chart with over 7.4 million streams.
The song has peaked at no. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 thus far. In the UK, it’s peaked at no. 4.
Joe Keery is currently promoting the song and filming the final fifth season of Stranger Things. (Steve better live or so help me…)
Fresh off the viral success of Djo’s song ‘End of Beginning’, we asked Joe Keery aka Djo to take a trip down memory lane to answer ‘My Life In 20 Questions’.
Get ready for Joe’s reflections on everything, from the appropriate age to be watching SpongeBob Squarepants, to wanting to be a pirate (for a day), the Wim Hof breathing technique, his favourite Beatles song and so much more.
On this edition of TikTok Radio IRL, Jess Lucero chats with Joe Keery, known professionally in music as Djo, about “End of Beginning” going viral, what he watches on YouTube despite having no social media accounts for himself, what he observes about Millie Bobby Brown’s accent when they speak to each other and much more.
Musician Djo, more formally known as Joe Keery, sits down with Zane Lowe in the studio to discuss his breakout hit “End of Beginning” and alternative album ‘DECIDE’ released in 2022.
Djo runs down the tracklist, revealing his creative process, musical influences including The Cars and plans for future music. He also shares his experience on Stranger Things and how he balances being an actor and a musician.
You can also read an interview with Joe about the song’s success over at Variety if reading is more your speed. Yeah right. We all know ONTD doesn’t read.
