Two new medical procedurals have been given the green light by Max and Netflix.

The Pitt, which was given a series order at Max this week, will be set at a hospital in Pittsburgh. The creative forces behind the show are reuniting after all working on one of the popular shows in the genre: ER. It will star Noah Wyle, who played Dr. John Carter on that show, while Pitt showrunner R. Scott Gemmill was a producer on ER. Both will act as executive producers, alongside John Wells who was ER‘s first showrunner. The show received a 15 episode order and will drop episodes weekly. Further casting is underway.

Pulse is already in production over at Netflix and will follow the staff at a Level 1 Trauma Center in Miami. The show will be led by Willa Fitzgerald, Justina Machado, and Colin Woodell. No news on the episode number and presumably Netflix will not drop it weekly, but the article points out that streamers might be eager to produce more long-form procedurals for their libraries, particularly after moments like the explosion of Suits on Netflix last year.
