Dreamworks is outsourcing their animation in anticipation of the upcoming negotiations with TAG this summer. If a strike happens, they can continue almost unaffected.
Please support TAG as we head into negotiations. The animation you love can’t continue if it’s treated this way. https://t.co/OP6EWWWQjx

- Dreamworks told Cartoon Brew that bc of big projects winding down all at once ( “Kung fu Panda 4” and “The Wild Robot”, and one that was cancelled, a Bollywood-style movie called “Another Me”), the scheduling doesn’t line up to keep people consistently employed.
- “Another Me” was deemed not marketable, amongst other issues, that lead to its cancellation.
- In case you thought that was altrusitic of them, last year, they said that for a cost cutting measure, a lot more of Dreamworks’ … work was going to be outsourced as part of new cost-cutting measures ordered by parent company Comcast-NBCUniversal.
- The Animation Guild is entering negotiations this summer.
- It is rumored that Pixar is also cutting workers later this year.
