Patty Jenkins shared in a podcast that her planned Star Wars movie is back in development. The film was originally announced in December 2020. Titled Rogue Squadron, it would follow a group of X-wing fighter pilots within the Rebel Alliance.
Jenkins shared that she agreed on a deal with Disney just before the WGA strike kicked off last year and that she currently owes them a draft of the script. Lucasfilm has not commented.
Star Wars’ film division has been notoriously troubled for years, as several projects have been announced then quietly shelved. A Mandalorian movie is set to begin filming later this year, with two other movies confirmed by Lucasfilm to be in active development.
