A New York jury has found Donald Trump liable for the defamatory comments he made about E Jean Carroll, calling her a liar and suggesting a sexual encounter with her was impossible because she was “not my type.”
It took the jury of seven men and two women less than three hours to reach a verdict on Friday afternoon.
The court has ordered Trumplethinskin to pay $83.3 million to Carroll, with the payment consisting of $65m for punitive damages and 18.3 in compensatory damages.
Carroll said in a statement after the verdict: “This is a great victory for every woman who stands up when she’s been knocked down, and a huge defeat for every bully who has tried to keep a woman down”.
Predictably, the Tangerine Toddler threw a tantrum on Truth(?) Social at the result, slamming the verdict as part of a “Biden directed witch Hunt” and that the US legal system was being used as a “political weapon” to target him. “They have taken away all First Amendment Rights. THIS IS NOT AMERICA!”
He has vowed to appeal the decision.
