– On their amicable split:
“It’s a natural progression of what we each want to explore,” he says. “I will direct on my own, and I will explore things that I want to explore. I want that freedom right now in my life.”
– That meant bowing out of the Safdies’ much-anticipated follow-up to “Uncah Jams,” a film that will also star Adam Sandler, along with Megan Thee Stallion, and is set in the world of sports memorabilia and baseball.
– On the untitled Adam Sandler Project:
While Benny was originally set to direct the movie with Josh, he says he did not co-write the script and hasn’t been a meaningful part of the creative process, despite reports to the contrary. Now, Safdie says, the movie is “on pause.”
– On possible future collaborations with his brother:
When I ask whether he’ll direct with Josh again, he shrugs: “I don’t know.”
