Cher has filed for financial conservatorship of her son Elijah’s trust because she states he is currently unable to manage his assets due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues
Tl;dr
Cher is independently wealthy and doesn’t need her son’s money. She wants to ensure payments from a trust set up in Elijah’s name by his father Gregg Allman goes to a different independent trust in the name of the conservatorship. This will prevent the money from going towards his drug abuse. Elijah’s current assets are estimated at $120,000.
Elijah Blue Allman (47) is one of five children of Gregg Allman, each from five different mothers
Elijah filed for divorce in 2021 from his wife, Marieangela King, whom Cher claims has actively prevented Elijah from getting clean and staying sober, and King had previously taken steps to check Elijah out of rehab
>> This is a follow up to a post where Elijah’s (estranged? divorced?) wife was complaining about being kicked out of Elijah’s house and not allowed to see him, but I can’t link to the post because safari is being a brat rn. Here is the People Magazine article
Two of Elijah’s half siblings from his dad Gregg Allman also support Cher being appointed as Elijah’s financial conservator. Due to Elijah’s current state, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator for his estate.
Sometimes life deals you a deck stacked against you. Gregg Allman (24) and his brother Duane (25) formed the Allman Brothers Band in 1971, then Duane was killed in a motorcycle accident that same year. Gregg had a decades long history of alcohol and drug abuse. Gregg married Cher, his third wife, in 1975. Elijah Blue (his second son) was born in 1978; Gregg and Cher divorced that year. Gregg contracted Hepatitis C in 2007, was diagnosed with liver cancer in 2008, received a liver transplant in 2010, then subsequently died from the return of liver cancer in 2017 at age 69.
