Not since Taylor Swift’s very own Midnights (2022) has an album surpassed 1 million copies sold in the first week, and before that it was reputation (2017). But Swift is about to do it again and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is expected to do over 1 million copies in the first week. She’s even expected to outdo the first week numbers of 1989 (2014).
HDD writes, “After one day of sales and streams, we can project a first week total of 1.45-1.55m. This includes more than 400m projected streams for an SEA of 300-350k.”
For comparison, the original 1989 did 1.287 million copies in the first week back in 2014.
