- Buffy Sainte-Marie claimed to born in Piapot, adopted into a white family, and reconnected with her Piapot family/was adopted by them in her 20s
- Journalist Jacqueline Keeler watched a documentary on Sainte-Marie and found her story suspicious
- She was able to find Sainte-Marie’s original birth certificate in Stoneham, Massachusetts listing the parents Sainte-Marie claimed as adopted are listed as her birth parents and it is not possible it is a re-issued birth certificate like for an adoption
- Her older brother, his daughter, and a younger cousin all claim she was white. Her sister also says she never heard that Buffy was adopted from her parents, only from Buffy herself
- As seen in the previous post Sainte-Marie continues to maintain that she has Indigenous heritage
This is really sad. I feel sorry for her Piapot family, this must hurt them the most.
