Jack Antonoff
The pair met in 2012, but solidified their personal and professional relationship when he produced several of her songs from her 2014 album 1989. After the album dropped, Jack shared an Instagram post captioned, “will one day write an essay on the different production I used on the song + how much working with taylor on it has meant to me. she’s a wonderful artist,” about the tune “Out of the Woods.” The duo would go on to take home the Album of the Year Grammy Award.
The pair worked together on Taylor’s albums that followed, including Lover, Folklore, Evermore and Midnights, taking home their second Album of the Year win for Folklore in March 2021.
Upon winning the Song of the Year Moonman trophy at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards for “Anti-Hero,” Taylor called Jack “one of my best friends in the world,” adding, “He’s so talented it’s incomprehensible, And I’m so lucky I’ve been making music with him since we worked on an album called 1989. We’ll continue working together til’ 2089.”
Taylor has shown on many occasions how the two are close friends outside the recording studio. Jack helped throw her a surprise birthday party in 2020, and the “Willow” singer shared photos on Instagram from the event. “Honestly spending my 30th with the fans who have made my life what it is at jingle ball, then throwing the most aggressive holiday party known to womankind… I just … seriously feel so lucky for you all and will spend forever trying to find ways to say thank you. *cries in Christmas tree*,” she captioned the pictures which included Jack and Blake Lively.
