• In his latest newsletter, Puck writer Matthew Belloni reported that Justin Bieber has been “poking around for a new agency or manager,” in the recent weeks.
• Bieber, of course, has a long standing relationship with Scooter Braun who “discovered” Bieber’s videos on YouTube back in 2007. Bieber and Braun have been a team ever since. Belloni reports that, “Bieber and the manager who built his empire (and his ridiculous public persona) on Bieber’s talents haven’t spoken in months.” Bieber did re-up his contract with Braun in 2021 before Braun sold his Ithaca Holdings to HYPE in 2021, and is still deciding to pursue other representation despite still having time left on that contract.
• Belloni says, “neither side is confirming a split, but I’m told they’re headed separate ways, and their lawyers are involved.”
• He also adds that Justin and his wife Hailey are cleaning house, and decided to fire CAA as his agency, and replaced his longtime lawyer, and sold his music rights to Hipgnosis Songs Capital for $200 million in an effort to pay off “mounting debt.” Bieber has also apparently hired Lou Taylor in a business manager capacity. CAA, Braun, and Bieber’s new lawyer declined to comment on the situation.
