Another weekend dominated by Barbenheimer.
Barbie took the top spot for the 4th weekend in a row with a stellar $33.7 million, a 36% drop from last weekend. Its domestic total now stands at $526.3 million. Oppenheimer followed with $18.8 million, down 35% from last weekend. Its own domestic total stands at $264.3 million.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem took 3rd with $15.75 million, a great 44% drop from its debut. Its domestic total now stands at $72.7 million. Meg 2: The Trench did not have as great as a drop as the top 3, falling 58% from $12.7 million.
This weekend big new release — The Last Voyage of the Demeter — flopped in 5th with $6.5 million. The $45 million film didnt score well with audiences, landing a B- Cinemascore, a 66% positive from PostTrak and a 2.9 on Letterboxd.
On the indie side, Ben Kingsley’s new film Jules took in $834k from 780 theaters.
Total box office this weekend is estimated currently at $118.5 million, an insane 76% higher than this weekend last year. The movies are back!
