    Women’s World Cup 2023 Day 18: Knock knock, who’s out? Sweet 16 no.3

Another two bite the dust, as South Africa and the USA leave the tournament on the second day of knock out matches. Let’s hope both federations don’t bitch around and put the money they still get from Fifa into their womens league, national teams and youth support.

Also let me just tell you ONTD, it is an interesting experience to only read in ticker updates how a penalty shoot out is going. I was highly amused how poetic the person in charge went for the first one from Sweden to quickly realize there was not enough time for flowery words right after and sticking to simple and to the point describtions to not even being able to update with texts and only updating the score. Also, while I haven’t seen it happen and only read it, I think goalies taking penalties should be done more often, I just like the idea of two goalies suddenly facing off like this when otherwise they are so far apart during the match.
