Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves debuted at the top this weekend with $38.5 million from 3,855 theaters. Estimates were for $30-40 million, so it landed nicely at the high end. The $150 million film — split for cost between Paramount and eOne — saw great exit scores from audiences with an A- Cinemascore and a 77% recommend from PostTrak. WOM will be key to success since those trailers did this film zero favors.
John Wick: Chapter 4 landed in 2nd with $28.2 million, a 62% drop from last week. Its the biggest 2nd weekend drop for the franchise. To be expected after losing all its premium screens to DnD. Its domestic total now stands at $122 million.
His Only Son, a Christian-based film I’ve never heard of until now, somehow debuted in 3rd place with $5.3 million from 1,920 theaters.
Scream VI also took in $5.3 million for 4th. Its less than $2 million away from passing the $100 million mark, and is well on its way to passing the first Scream’s $103 million haul to become the top-grosser (non-adjusted ofc) of the franchise. Good job Ghosty!
Creed III rounded out the Top 5 with $5 million. Meanwhile last week’s #2 film Shazam Fury of the Flops, dropped another 49% to a 6th place $4.7 million. After 3 weeks its now passed the first film’s opening of $53.50 million with $53.59 million.
Next weekend (starting Wednesday): The Super Mario Bros Movie, Air, Paint, Showing Up
