Whitney Houston‘s secret relationship with her former assistant Robyn Crawford is addressed in the movie I Wanna Dance With Somebody and now her longtime collaborator Clive Davis is confirming the affair did happen.
Robyn and Whitney met in 1980 when they were both counselors at a summer camp. They were reportedly 16 and 19, respectively, at the time. Robyn eventually began working for Whitney as her assistant and while there were always rumors that they were more than friends, they never confirmed anything.
It wasn’t until 2019 when Robyn published her book “A Song for You: My Life with Whitney Houston” that she confirmed their romantic relationship.
Clive is now confirming the relationship too and explaining why it needed to be included in the Whitney biopic.

“They did have a teenage, one-year affair,” Clive told Extra.
On why the relationship is in the movie, Clive said, “There have been so many articles that have…attempted to trace her addiction to being a frustrated lesbian or never dated a man before Bobby, all of which was totally inaccurate.”
“I know of several men that she dated before Bobby,” he added. “I mean, she did see Jermaine Jackson for two years.”
