Shawn Desman who has been doing quite the social media campaign has announced a live recording to go along his tour at the Phoenix Concert Theatre.

Shawn Desman’s career has taken some great highs and lows. At 18 he debuted with the self-titled album that garnered three top ten singles on the Canadian charts. Despite winning a Juno Award for his follow-up album (Back for More 2003) he was subsequently dropped from Universal Music Canada.

In 2010 he came back after a rather long break from music, he released his album Fresh. Fresh was a commercial success with two gold singles and one platinum single. In 2013 he released his fourth studio album, Alive, which flopped spectacularly. Desman has gone on record to say he allowed his label (Universal Music) to steer his sound direction. Desman was subsequently dropped from his label and went on a hiatus.

He had done shows sporadically but was unfortunately seen as a joke from most publications. Toronto Star, notoriously ran a rather pointed article about him performing a free concert after failing to sell tickets despite the lack of promotion for the event and no recent musical activity at the time – it should also be noted it was a Canada Day-eve event and not a Shawn Desman focused show.

Despite the tumultuous post Universal career, Desman found a resurgence of popularity after Drake brought him on stage at a 2022 show. He has since then been running a rather successful social media campaign in anticipation for his tour.
