Based on the 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y.K. Lee, Lulu Wang’s The Expats stars Nicole Kidman, Sarayu Blue, Ji-young Yoo, Brian Tee, and Jack Huston. The six part miniseries was filmed in Hong Kong in 2021. Nicole Kidman was granted an exemption from the mandatory 21 day quarantine period put in place for COVID.
