Prince Harry’s children have settled into school
Prince Harry and his family returned to the UK this summer after more than six years living in California and though the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children had a rocky start, being moved from one local school to another amid security concerns, the prince revealed the youngsters, who are aged seven and five, have adjusted to their new life.
Speaking to Canadian network CTV, Harry said: “The kids are happy in school and it gives me a chance to really focus on Invictus in Birmingham.
“The games are in July next year.”
Harry is also enjoying being back in the UK.
He added: “It’s been great. It’s been great to be back on British soil.
“It’s great to be back on terra firma, actually.”
The prince made his comments after completing a skydive to fulfil a promise he had made to a 102-year-old World War II veteran.
Harry met veteran Ed Marshall during a visit to a veterans centre in Toronto last November, where he was told how the former military man had undertaken a skydive for his 100th birthday.
This time around, a medical evaluation ruled Ed out of safely making the jump, so he stayed in the plane while his grandson Bailey stepped in to do the skydive alongside Harry.
Harry said afterwards: “Ed’s been really excited about this. There’s no version where you can let a 102-year-old veteran down.
“He was devastated that he couldn’t jump, but it was great to have him in the back.
“They did put a parachute on him. We did think that he was probably going to jump by himself — glad he didn’t and he’s still here! And he’s going to be 103 in a few months’ time.”
Harry’s first call after making the jump was to wife Meghan and he admitted she had been worried.
He said: “I didn’t have to convince her, but she was relieved once we were down. It took quite a while to get up, so I think she was like, ‘Are they down yet? Are they down yet?’
“I’ve just been blaming Ed anyways. I said, ‘I can’t, I don’t want to do it, I wish I could get out of it,’ but Ed is very persuasive!”
Archie and Lilibet had spent two days at their first school in the UK, but were moved due to security concerns about the daily travel because of heavy traffic and the distance between the facility and the family’s current home.
Bodyguards had carried out checks during the summer holidays but couldn’t properly assess the school run until term began.
A source told the Telegraph: “The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family.
“This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there.”
