We’re one step closer to getting a Glee revival!
While stepping out for the American Horror Story season 13 celebration event on Wednesday night (September 23), Ryan Murphy revealed that he just finished writing a script for a potential revival of the hit musical series
“Well, funny you ask, because I just finished the script an hour ago,” Ryan told Entertainment Tonight. “We have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something.”
Ryan also revealed that he’s been in contact with several original cast members, who he said are excited about the possibility of revisiting the series.
“I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members, and it’s very sweet,” he said. “They’ve all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.”
However, he did say that none of the cast members have seen the script yet.
“Nobody’s read it, so I don’t know; we’ll see,” Ryan said. “I mean, I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think, particularly the cast, cause we were very close when we were making it.”
Glee ran for six seasons from 2009 to 2015.
The Golden Globe-winning series centered on a group of students in their school’s Glee Club. It starred Lea Michele, the late Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Matthew Morrison, and Jane Lynch, as well as Harry Shum Jr, the late Naya Rivera, Heather Morris, Darren Criss, Chord Overstreet, Melissa Benoist, Alex Newell, and Becca Tobin.
Throughout its time on air, the show featured many big-name guest stars – Kristin Chenoweth, Idina Menzel, Britney Spears, Matt Bomer, Carol Burnett, Josh Groban, Gwyneth Paltrow, John Stamos, Olivia Newton-John, Whoopi Goldberg, Demi Lovato, Adam Lambert, Kate Hudson, Sarah Jessica Parker, and many more!
Ryan‘s new comments come weeks after he previously said that he was really “considering” reviving the series.
