British Olympian Amy Hunt has slammed Sydney Sweeney’s controversial new advert.

Sydney Sweeney has been slammed by female athletes

The 29-year-old actress has come under fire from various well-known athletes for her X-rated new advert for Novig, a sports prediction market, and Amy has now added her voice to the criticism.

Amy, 24, told the BBC at the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship: “Sydney Sweeney, this is what women in sport look like.

“21.4 [seconds, the winning time of Melissa Jefferson-Wooden], muscles, hard work, sweat, blood, tears. This is a beautiful evening.

“Obviously we’ve seen in the last 24 hours everything about the Sydney Sweeney ad, you know, and when you’re a woman in sport, it’s not pretty. It’s not glamorous. It’s not sexy all the time, definitely.

“There’s some low moments. Even turning up to this championship, my period started yesterday, so that’s not really ideal, and that’s not ever what you try to really plan for.”

Earlier this month, Sydney revealed that she “grew up loving sports”.

The actress has become one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood in recent years – but Sydney was a huge sports fan as a child.

The blonde beauty – who played professional boxer Christy Martin in the 2025 biopic film Christy – told Complex: “I grew up loving sports.

“I played sports growing up. I was on a soccer team, I was on a softball team, I was on a snow ski team. I learned how to slalom ski when I was little, and I did MMA.

“So sports have been a really big part of my life, and I love watching hockey and boxing, especially after playing Christy Martin. I have a really huge appreciation for every single fighter.”

Despite this, Sydney doesn’t have any regrets that she chose to pursue a career in Hollywood.

Asked why she chose to pursue an acting career, Sydney replied: “Well, first, my parents always told me to fall in love with as many things as possible, so they really wanted me to try absolutely everything.

“I think that the idea and concept of acting was my ability and my choice to be able to not have to pick being one thing for the rest of my life. I get to play all these different characters.

“I get to learn so much about other people and the world. I get to travel. I get to meet interesting and smart, intelligent, creative people, and it’s broadened my world so much more than if I would’ve just chosen one thing.”
