  • An Amazon delivery guy delivered an order to a home baker in Florida. On the stoop was a cake pop cart with the sign, “Treat yourself to Homemade Haven.” The guy assumed that they had been left there for the taking, so he helped himself to a single cake pop. The owners of the bakery/cake pop cart, Kaye and Adam Walton, got online to shame the delivery man and accuse him of theft, demanding the $4 that he owes them for the cake pop. The internet, realizing how ridiculous this is, has dubbed them The Cake Pop Karens.
  • As we saw on ONTD, TikTok is trolling Luke Bryan for his bad new song, “Down Goes the Whiskey.”
  • It’s the U.S. Open, which is a big, fancy tennis event, and all the monied, classy people there were sick of the obnoxious influencers who showed up.
  • It’s also Burning Man. Coachella might be known as the Influencer Olympics, but Burning Man is giving it a run for its money. Unfortunately, this year, it has been raining constantly and very muddy, which is putting a damper on the attendees’ drug-fueled EDM raves.
  • Is having a crush completely optional and a sign of insecurity? Does it violate the consent of the person on whom you are crushing? That has been the topic of discourse on TikTok, where Gen Z and Gen Alpha are discussing whether it’s still okay to have crushes.
  • Prank influencer Jack Doherty has been arrested, again, and charged with domestic battery in Fort Lauderdale. This is not his first run-in with the law. He once stood in the middle of the road to record a video. He also crashed his $200,000 McClaren while allegedly looking at his cell phone. Hilariously, the Commissioner of South Beach once called Doherty an “entitled little shithead.”
  • Unleased men! What are they? Unleased men, or unleased boyfriends, are boyfriends or situationships who linger around the apartments of the women from whom they mooch. Even though they are not on the leases, these unleased men linger around apartment stairwells, hang out on the stoops, smoke weed outside, and generally are nuisances. The topic of unleased men has gone viral this week, with numerous women — and leased men — coming online to discuss how an unleased man either got them evicted or ruined their renting experience.
  • So, this TikTok user who goes by @prettyyyy posted a video of a hot dog with the perfect ratio of meat to bun. A user called Delores commented on it, “No fat shit but that’s those martins potato buns aren’t they?” For whatever reason, the comment got a zillion likes and went mega-viral, with Delores becoming a meme. That hot dog bun does look good, though.
  • Stella Lefty is an artist whose song blew up on TikTok. Her father also happens to be billionaire Eric Lefkofsky, one of the founders of Groupon. Stella is under criticism because her song, “Boston,” sounded so similar to Noah Kahan’s song “Stick Season” that she ended up giving him songwriting credits. She claimed that she was not thinking of Kahan when she wrote the song. However, it came out that she has covered “Stick Season” multiple times on her social media.

  • Once in a while, TikTok makes someone talented go viral. That is the case for Pierre Laborde, a designer whose leather bags went viral on TikTok after influencer Grace Masingale purchased one from his market stall in New York and shared it online. Now, his orders are at capacity and he has had to hire additional help just to keep up with the demand. FashionTok has taken to calling his bags the Birkins of Manhattan. They retail between $275 and $1,200, which seems more than fair for a handmade leather bag.
