Dancing With the Stars pro Gleb Savchenko is speaking out after he was missing from the season 35 cast announcement.
“Guys, I promise… I’m good 😂❤️,” Savchenko, 42, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, September 2. “Nothing but love and gratitude for all the years in that ballroom. Excited for this next chapter — and wishing everyone an amazing season 🪩.”
While filming a shirtless video by the pool, the professional dancer showed off his six-pack abs and also thanked fans for sending him encouraging messages online.
“No sad messages. We’re moving forward 😉,” he shared. “Guys, we can stop telling me you’re sorry. I’m good.”
Earlier in the day, the new cast for ABC’s hit reality show was announced on Good Morning America. While familiar pros like Alan Bersten, Val Chmerkovskiy, Pasha Pashkov and Ezra Sosa were paired up with new celebrity partners, Savchenko was noticeably missing. (Typically, producers switch out a pro or two every season.)
Savchenko made a splash on DWTS in 2013 when he first appeared as a pro dancer in season 16 alongside Lisa Vanderpump. He was paired up with a variety of partners in the seasons that followed, including Erika Jayne, Jana Kramer, Lauren Alaina, Shangela and Brooks Nader.
In season 34, Savchenko had the opportunity to be paired up with Hilaria Baldwin.
Although the professional dancer was most recently seen participating in Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro, Savchenko began pursuing acting opportunities.
While chatting exclusively with Us in July, Savchenko teased that he was working on a variety of projects.
“I just filmed another vertical, and I’m super excited for it. It’s on DramaWave,” he teased at the time. “It’s a platform, so I encourage everyone to download it. The name of it is pretty crazy, but it’s called Swallow Me Like a Sin. I have a big role. I’m playing a Mafia King and rescuing my best friend’s daughter and shooting people and it’s a whole thing. It’s a really cool blockbuster, a dream come true. I’m fully transitioning into acting. I really want to do that on the next level.”
The Dancing With the Stars ballroom is filling up fast for season 35. When asked to share his advice for future pros, Savchenko said it was important to make sure they have a positive DWTS journey.
“You want to make sure that they have a good experience,” he said. “You help them to tell the story or overcome something or boost their confidence. You’re becoming a best friend, psychologist, psychiatrist, a therapist, a pep talker, someone who is becoming so close with them and that they can trust.”
Dancing With the Stars season 35 kicks off with a two-night premiere on ABC and Disney+ Tuesday, September 15, and Wednesday, September 16, at 8 p.m. ET.
