James Marsden has a new series in the works at Apple TV!
On Thursday (August 6), Deadline announced that the 52-year-old Emmy-nominated actor will be starring in the new mystery comedy series Bad News Dads, based on the upcoming novel of the same name by Adam Frost.
Here’s the synopsis:
Bad News Dads is about an inept men’s baseball rec league team where one of the players’ wives dies in a suspicious accident, and the friendship-starved Ben (Marsden) leads two of his teammates in an impromptu and often misguided investigation into what they increasingly come to think was murder.
Along with starring in the series, James will also serve as an executive producer.

Frost’s Bad News Dads will be published April 6, 2027 by Simon Schuster/Atria/Emily Bestler Books. While the title and baseball setting are clearly a nod to Bad News Bears, the book is an original idea in a different genre that has no connection to the movie.
The upcoming series extends James‘ streak at Apple TV. He had a memorable arc on the second season of Jon Hamm‘s series Your Friends & Neighbors and will next star in and executive produce the streamer’s upcoming action thriller Disavowed.
Later this year, James will be reprising his role as X-Men role as Cyclops/Scott Summers in Avengers: Doomsday. Watch the trailer here!
