Tate McRae was asked about political leanings in a new interview.
If you don’t know, the 23-year-old entertainer faced allegations that she’s a MAGA Republican when she collaborated with Morgan Wallen on the song “What I Want.”
She further faced MAGA allegations when she was linked to hockey player Jack Hughes. Hughes famously made headlines for associating with Trump during the Team USA men’s hockey’s Olympic gold medal run. Trump, now infamously, called the team after their win, made a “joke” about the women’s hockey team, and invited the men to the White House. Here’s how Jack Hughes responded to the backlash.
In a conversation with Variety, she explained why she’s not been vocally outspoken about the claims.
“I like to say my piece through organizations I support and the environment that I have on tour. I think it’s pretty obvious what kind of person I am and the things I support. And I hope that my fans can see that through the things that I’m putting my energy towards,” she told the mag. Variety noted an example of this, citing: “She posted a TikTok advertising a “Little Miss Possessive” hoodie, with a portion of proceeds going to The Trevor Project, a nonprofit focusing on suicide prevention for LGBTQ+ youth, and Global Fund for Women.”
About her relationship status, she added, “I try to keep my relationships as sacred and private as possible. I love the people in my life. They love me. You just try to keep that circle as positive and supportive as possible. And the outside noise, I can’t do anything about that. Focusing my energy on something that I can’t control, it just puts me in a bad mood.”
