    Samantha Busch Celebrates Son Brexton Winning 1st Race Since His Dad Kyle Busch’s Shocking Death

    Samantha Busch is celebrating her son Brexton winning his first race since his famous father, legendary NASCAR racer Kyle Busch, unexpectedly died at age 41.

    “This is his first win since Kyle’s passing. There was a lot of emotions to say the very least,” Samantha, 40, wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, July 18, over a photo of her son standing atop a car after winning his race in the restricted micro sprint class event at Oklahoma’s Port City Raceway dirt track on Friday, July 17.

    “Beyond proud of him not just for winning but all that he’s navigating at a young age, beyond shattered Kyle isn’t here to be a part of this, beyond grateful for all the support and amazing people we have around us,” she continued.

    Kyle died on May 21 after he was found unresponsive in a racing simulator in North Carolina and transported to a local hospital. In addition to Samantha and Brexton, he is survived by his 4-year-old daughter, Lennix.

    NASCAR announced Busch’s death hours after his family revealed he would be unable to compete in the upcoming Coca-Cola 600 after being hospitalized with “a severe illness.” The racer’s death certificate later confirmed that the racer died of pneumonia that progressed “into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications.”

    “As a family, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you,” Samantha wrote via Instagram on June 5, breaking her silence after her husband’s death. “The prayers, messages, flowers, meals, hugs, and countless acts of kindness have carried us through the most heartbreaking days of our lives. While our hearts are absolutely shattered, we have felt God’s presence and arms wrapped tightly around us through each and every one of you.”

    On Saturday, Samantha broke down her son’s day of racing while thanking those who have helped guide him in the wake of his father’s death.

    “6 to 1 in outlaw heat driving Dad’s car,” she wrote over a video of her son competing in the micro sprint class event.

    “Grateful for all the drivers who have coached, encouraged and supported Brexton thru all this,” she wrote in another upload, tagging a video of sprint driver Frank Flud coaching Brexton between races.

    “In restricted Brexton started p14, huge wreck lap one started in back p12,” she added over another video of the race. “Made his way thru the field. And he ended up with the WIN!!!!”

    Samantha concluded her social media upload by sharing a black-and-white video of her son celebrating his win by waving the checkered flag while standing atop his race car.
