Actor and comedian Joel Kim Booster recently spoke with The Provincetown Independent, leveling a critique at the lessons Hollywood has seemed to learn from the success of Heated Rivalry and the chilling effect the wave of harassment coming from the White House has had on artists:

“‘People are really frightened and risk-averse right now because of this administration and what we’ve seen in the way of censorship or retaliation,’ he says.

Booster calls out the industry’s backpedaling on shows that put queerness center stage — despite important successes like Heated Rivalry, in which love between two elite players shifts the hypermasculine world of hockey. ‘There are now six hockey shows in development, none of them gay, and it’s like, guys, I think it wasn’t the hockey that was the big issue.'”

ONTD, what queer romance would you like to see adapted for TV/film?
