Box office continues to be big in 2026. In a win for legacy sequels, Toy Story 5 made $160 million at the box office this weekend for the biggest debut of 2026, smashing Super Mario Galaxy‘s $131.7 million opening weekend record. It opened overseas for another $152 million, bringing in $312 million total. With a $250 million budget, the film was costly, but will clearly end up doing numbers for Disney.
Disclosure Day took second place in its second weekend of release with $17 million, a 62% drop from its opening. It has made $160 million globally over two weekends of release on a $115 million budget.
Just behind it with $14.2 million was Obsession, still drawing insanely well in its sixth weekend of release. It has made $215 domestic, and $333 million worldwide, far beyond anyone’s wildest expectations for the low-budget horror film.
In fourth place was Backrooms with $7.3 million in its fourth weekend. So far, it’s made $175 million in domestic and $300 million worldwide.
Fifth spot belonged to Scary Movie 6 with $6.7 million. It has made $97.4 million in North America and $201.9 million globally on a $30 million budget, an assured success.
Newcomer Leviticus made $2.74 million in just over 1000 theaters for eighth spot at the box office, followed by another debut, The Death of Robin Hood, with $2.65 million from nearly 1800 theaters.
