Count on the ever-regal Kate Middleton to add a touch of elegance to a drinking game. According to her cousin-in-law Mike Tindall, the Princess of Wales knows how to take the pressure off. “I knew that the Princess of Wales was über competitive because I’d seen her play a drinking game called beer pong, but normally we play prosecco pong! She still plays it with us,” Tindall revealed during a recent interview with Woman & Home.

Since 2011, Mike has been married to Zara Tindall, daughter of Princess Anne and cousin to Prince William. “Sport is rife throughout the family—everyone is competitive,” Tindall added of the royal clan. This extends beyond the sports fields for the Windsors. William and Kate have already proved highly competitive with each other during their engagements. In March, the pair took part in a beer-pouring contest during a visit to London’s Southwark Brewery, as later shown on Instagram.

While on that visit to Southwark, Middleton mentioned that these days she takes more care with her alcohol consumption following her 2024 cancer diagnosis. “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now,” royal editor Matt Wilkinson of The Sun quoted Middleton as saying on X. “But you like cider…” Middleton said about her husband, with whom she shares Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

While Prince William enjoys a pint of beer, his wife has a preference for sparkling wines. The Princess of Wales has been seen sipping bubbly on the sidelines of Prince William’s polo matches. But prosecco isn’t her only favorite—she and Prince William are said to have served a specialty punch at their 2011 wedding—a blend of vodka, Champagne, and passion fruit. Perhaps the Tindalls could incorporate that specialty cocktail into the next game night with William and Kate.
