After two albums that have underperformed (“Autumn Variations” and “Play”) for Ed Sheeran standards, he’s leaving his long-time label of Asylum Records/Warner/Atlantic Records.
He formed his own label (Gingerbread Man Records) and released his last two albums that way, licensing the albums to Warner.
Warner Music owns his first few albums (+, x, ÷, No.6 Collaborations Project, =, and -).
The Chart Obsessed Chanteuse™ wants you to know he’s not leaving because he’s “disgruntled” with his label, so don’t you dare think or write that. This is pure coincidence and timing okay.
“This isn’t a ‘disgruntled artist leaves record label’ type situation,” the singer wrote in a statement. “This is a boy who started as a teenager on the company with different priorities, to the father of 2 man who exists now, who feels like he needs a shift and change in the way he does things professionally.”
