Shia LaBeouf is facing new legal trouble following an alleged altercation during Mardi Gras earlier this year.
The 39-year-old actor has been formally charged with three misdemeanor counts of simple battery by the Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office, according to People. The charges were filed on Thursday (May 21) and stem from a reported fight involving two men outside a New Orleans bar during Mardi Gras festivities in February.

One of the men involved in the incident alleged that Shia used homophobic slurs during the confrontation.
According to NOLA.com, police stated in a report that Shia was “reportedly causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive.”
Video from the scene showed the actor removing his shirt before approaching the men, and he could reportedly be heard shouting, “Let’s fight, let’s fight.”

Shia LaBeouf was previously ordered into substance abuse treatment and drug testing following his arrest
Following the incident, Shia was arrested and later appeared in court, where his bail was set at $100,000. A judge also ordered the Honey Boy actor to enroll in substance abuse treatment and participate in a drug testing program.
Just over a week later, Shia was arrested again in New Orleans after authorities issued a new warrant tied to an additional misdemeanor charge connected to the original arrest.
The latest legal developments come months after Shia’s ex, FKA twigs, filed another lawsuit against the actor in late March related to their previous sexual battery settlement.
