Bebe Rexha feels more confident than ever.
Bebe Rexha feels particularly confident at the moment
The 36-year-old singer suffered from anxiety during her younger years, but Bebe now feels more confident in her own skin than she ever has been.
Bebe – who is set to release her new album, Dirty Blonde, in June – told Us Weekly: “My confidence comes from being tired of asking for permission and not giving a f***.
“I used to be so nervous doing red carpets and being like, ‘Oh, my gosh, those girls look so skinny, they look so good, they have their stuff together,’ that I [would] have so much anxiety. And then, now I come and I’m just like, ‘I actually belong here.'”
Bebe draws inspiration from a number of her fellow pop stars who have carved out their own place in the music industry.
She said: “[I am inspired by] Sabrina [Carpenter], Zara [Larsson], Charli [XCX], all the girls who have been slaying for such a long time, but now they fing made their mark. They have their thing, and it’s like, it’s fing inspiring.”
Bebe recently claimed that she feels “happier” than ever after becoming an independent artist.
Speaking to People about her independent venture, Bebe explained: “I feel amazing, honestly. I’m happy, finally.
“I see the light on the other side of the tunnel. It was getting a little scary there for a second. I’m happier than I’ve ever been, to be honest. Just to be surrounded by people that actually care about me — the energy is completely different.”
Bebe released New Religion — a high-energy dance track featuring the British group Faithless — earlier this year, and she opened up about her own relationship to the song.
The pop star recalled: “My uncle, when I was growing up in New York City, was trying to be a DJ. I remember him playing that for me the first time. And then I would hear it throughout my life — not knowing, when I was younger, where the song was coming from or who the artist was. And then as I got older, I was like, okay, this song was iconic.”
