“We’re all fans of the movie, whether or not we’re in it,” Adrian told Page Six in a recent interview. “Obviously, it was a disappointment that I didn’t get the call to be in the sequel, but I also understand there’s some backlash with Nate, the character, so that might have something to do with it.”
He says he would “of course” have said yes to reprising his role. “It leaves room for a beautiful spinoff,” he said, “in which Nate has his own film.”
He also told PEOPLE, “I can understand the sentiment,” Grenier says, of people thinking that Nate is the film’s villain, before joking, “But I have to stand [up] for my character. If Nate is actually the devil in The Devil Wears Prada, I’d like to see what his character does beyond, as a spinoff movie.”
