Savannah Guthrie has returned to the set of the Today show while the search for her missing mother continues.

The 54-year-old presenter has been absent from the show since 30 Januaru, two days before her family reported 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie missing from her home in Arizona, but on Thursday (05.03.26), she stopped by Studio 1A at the rockefeller Center in New York to thank her colleagues for their support, and promised she’d return to the programme eventually.
Speaking on the show, host Jenna Bush Hager said: “Savannah has come back to her home here at 30 Rock and Studio 1A.
“We got to see her this morning, and in her perfect way she talked to all of us, hugged every single person in this room, the crew.
“She said that she has the intention to return to the show. Even though it feels like the hardest thing to do, it’s also her home and where she feels so loved. And she is beyond loved here.
“And so, we’re happy that she is home. I don’t know when she is actually returning to the show, but she was here and that felt so good to get to hug her.”
Co-host Sheinelle Jones praised Savannah for the “strength” she had shown in being with her colleagues.
She said: “I’m proud of Savannah, and I’m rooting for Savannah, and I know the strength that it would’ve taken to even just come in here and to be amongst all of us.
“I think her coming here just being able to be with us and for us to be able to hug her, I think it’s a step,” she added. “I don’t know what’s ahead of us, but all I know is it’s a step.”
On 18 February, the Today hosts wore yellow ribbons and the studio was decorated with bouquets of yellow roses in a gesture of love and hope, and Savannah appreciated the gesture, as well as the flowers regularly placed near Nancy’s home as a symbol of community support.
Jenna said: “She said the yellow flowers and the pins, all of the prayers, she feels them, she depends on them.”
Hoda Kotb – who quit Today in January 2025 – has stepped in to cover for Savannah during her absence.
Following Savannah’s visit to the set, a spokesperson for the show told People magazine: “Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her Today colleagues..
“She plans to return to the show on air [but] she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”
