    Odessa A’zion Talks Dropping Out of ‘Deep Cuts’ Movie Following Whitewashing Backlash

    Odessa A’zion is opening up about her whitewashing controversy.

    Last month, the 25-year-old actress, best known for her roles in Marty Supreme and I Love LA, was cast in A24′s upcoming movie adaption of Holly Brickley‘s novel Deep Cuts. However, many took issue with Odessa‘s casting as the character of Zoe, who is of Mexican heritage and is Jewish, as the actress is white.

    Following the backlash, Odessa dropped out of the movie.

    In a new interview, Odessa addressed the controversy.

    Keep reading to find out more…“If people knew me personally, the way a lot of OGs do that have been sticking up for me, they’d know what I stand for,” Odessa told Elle. “I don’t want to make anybody feel any type of way. Like, that’s the last thing I want to do. I don’t want to offend anybody, ever.”
