Whoopi Goldberg is interested in going home instead of going for gold.

During the Thursday, February 12, episode of The View, Goldberg, 70, appeared unfazed and uninterested when bringing up a cheating scandal involving Norwegian Olympic athlete Sturla Holm Lægreid.

“I’m confused by all of this,” she said before her cohosts took on a more passionate stance.

Joy Behar suggested there are red flags when a man is unfaithful early on in a relationship.

Whoopi Goldberg says she would love to retire — but she can’t afford to. The View cohost, 69, has been part of the ABC daytime talk show since 2007, but she isn’t in a rush to slow down as she prepares to turn 70 in November. “Who can afford to do that?” Goldberg responded to […]

“He’s with the girl six months, and he’s cheating on her already,” Behar, 83, explained. “If you are already cheating at six months, that is biology telling you it’s off. It’s wrong.”

Sara Haines, however, had a different point of view and suggested that Lægreid, 28, deserves a second chance.

“You’re only in six months, so you might not even care. You’re just evolving,” Haines, 48, explained. “He may not have fallen as hard for her or realized how much he liked her, so he cheated early. I think it would be a bigger deal if he was with her for years and then he cheated.”

Ana Navarro quickly caught on to Goldberg’s lack of enthusiasm about the “Hot Topics” segment when she reminded the moderator, “Stay with us.”

Sunny Hostin got the audience’s attention even more when she argued Lægreid’s ex-girlfriend should give him a second chance.

“But he loves her! On the world stage, he apologized for his behavior,” Hostin, 57, reminded her cohosts. “Don’t you love that part? Why doesn’t she take him back? I’d give him a second chance. He loves her.”

Goldberg playfully pretended to get up from her chair and walk off the set when she said, “I’m out.”

Behar added, “Whoopi, you’re excused. You’re excused from this conversation. Take a nap.”

Lægreid made headlines after he earned a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy after competing in the men’s 20km biathlon on Tuesday, February 10.

While speaking with reporters, the Olympian confessed to having an affair.

“Six months ago, I met the love of my life, the most beautiful and kindest person in the world. Three months ago, I made the biggest mistake of my life and was unfaithful,” he told Norwegian state broadcaster NRK in a live interview. “I told her about it a week ago. It’s been the worst week of my life. I had the gold medal in life.”

Since Lægreid’s public admission, the athlete’s ex-girlfriend has spoken out and shared her point of view.

[I am grateful] to my family and friends who have embraced me and supported me during this time. Also to everyone else who has thought of me and sympathized, without knowing who I am.”
