Bella Hadid publicly criticized Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana in an Instagram comment. A fashion commentator named Elias Medini, who goes by Lyas, made an Instagram post noting how the brand seemed not to have cast a single non-white model in its most recent male runway collection. Hadid commented,”Shocked people actually support this company still it’s embarrassing models/stylists/casting the whole damn thing,” and, “beeeen cancelled…years of racism bigotry xenophobia…how are we shocked still?”
Hadid has been outspoken about social justice in the past, though she still has strong connections to the UAE despite calls for divestment.
